SPECIAL ISSUE- HEALTH

Objectives of this Special Issue

The objective of this special issue on health is to elucidate relationships between health and social media including but not limited to: (1) social media as a mechanism to document health, (2) social media for health education, and (3) how social media can influence health in a variety of ways.

Scope of the Journal

The Journal of Social Media in Society is a blind peer-reviewed, open-access, online journal that accepts scholarly articles and book reviews. The journal is devoted to scholarship and commentary on social media and its impact on society. The objective of JSMS is to advance the study of social media with current literature based on theory, research, and practice from all methodological frameworks.

Call for Papers

This special issue will contain empirical qualitative studies that elucidate relationships between health and social media. Topics include, but are not limited to:

• COVID-19, COVID-19 related procedural changes, COVID-19 perceptions

• Pain

• Mindfulness

• Virtual Health

• Athletic Training

• Athletic Counseling

• Mental Health

• Virtual Workouts

• App usage: Fitness Trackers, Calorie Counting

• Healthy Eating Habits

• Virtual Exercise Education

• Telehealth

• Virtual Medicine

• Health & Exercise

• Rural Health and Health Care Access

• Comorbidities with COVID-19

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special issue of the JSMS on or before February 28th, 2021. Authors should send a query and outline to the Edition Editors (listed below) prior to submitting the paper. All submissions must be original works and may not

be under review by another publisher. The appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation should be on file with the researcher’s institution. Authors should refer to the JSMS author guidelines for submissions by clicking this link. Important Dates:

· Submissions to the Journal: Today through February 28th, 2021

· Revision/Acceptance notification: On or before May 31, 2021

· For submissions selected that require revisions, revised manuscript due: On or before August 15th, 2021

· Final decision notification: On or before September 30, 2021

· Publication: Spring 2022
